the one about things consuming me

Honest to blog, I have been so crazy busy lately, I haven't had a second to blog. I am so sorry to disappoint my faithful readers, so I am forcing myself to stay awake and dedicate some of my precious beauty rest to my poor blog. (he he, I totally took a nap today, so even though I need the beauty rest more than you will even know, I can't sleep!)

The big thing that has consumed my life lately is my upcoming yard sale. It is going to be this Saturday at Janice's. I like to do a yard sale every couple of years. It is just a good way to de-clutter and make room for more junk. I am such a "throw-it-away" girl, it is sorta sad. I can't stand little messes and clutter, although you would never guess it if you came to my house. Unfortunately, I fell in love with the king of clutter and little messes. Errrrrrrrrr. It is so annoying. And bless his sweet heart, (isn't it true that if you are going to say something mean about someone, as long as you throw "bless their heart" in there somewhere it takes out the evil? I hope so!) he doesn't see the many messes that consume my life, so he leaves them. His son is following in his footsteps a bit, but at least I can tell him to clean up after himself. Not Brett. If I tell him to clean up after himself, I become the NAGGING WIFE! (Bless his heart, bless his heart, bless his heart.) Anyway, a yard sale should not consume one person so much, but I am a perfectionist with this stuff. I can't just make a yard sale pile. It has to be a neat and tidy yard sale pile with everything organized in boxes and pre-priced. (Kandice is SO proud of me right now!) So I have really been working hard, from room to room to get rid of as much as I can with out super-saver Brett seeing and pulling things out of my boxes.

Throughout this organizing/spring cleaning project, I have also been working on reorganizing my basement. As most of you know, I am a scrapbooker. Well I have collected SO MUCH STUFF over the years and so much of it is never going to get used. My scrapbook room is insane. Plus, I have taken the plunge. Believe it or not, my scrapbooking has gone (drum roll please.................) DIGITAL! gasp! Yes, it's true. I am going green. (Now Stephanie is proud!) I have started doing some of my stuff on Heritage Makers, but I have also been doing a lot with my Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. It is the greatest program known to man for Digi-Scrappin'. So after many lessons from Steph, many spent dollars at the scrapbook stores and many hours spent researching free downloads, I have made the change. Anyway, I will be selling a ton of scrapbook supplies at our yard sale. (So please come buy it all before I change my mind! I have already turned my scrapbook room into Quayd play room!)

Another biggie consuming me lately is the movie Juno. I didn't get to see it in the theater, and I couldn't wait for it to be released. I still didn't get to see it right away, so last Friday night, Brett was gone and Shae needed a ride home from work. When I got there to pick her up, she suggested we go rent it. She had seen it and knew I would love it. I told her to hook us up with the popcorn and I would hook us up with the show. OH MY HECK!!! I LOVE IT! I have really had to make valuable time to watch it as much as possible. We actually watched it again this Friday night. It might just have to be our Friday night thing. We started watching another movie (Garrison came too) but we couldn't get into it, so we turned on Juno. A few of my favorite lines from this show are...

"This is one doodle that can't be undid, home skillet."
"Honest to Blog!"
"Pork swords."
"Bleeker is really great..... in.. chair."
"You can never have too many of your one calorie breath mints."
"This is the most magnificent discarded living room set I have ever seen."
"I'm gonna punch that Bleeker kid in the wiener next time I see him."
"Your Ego is Prego."
"All babies want to get borned!"
Anyway, there are many other funny things, but what it all boils down to is this... I totally love this show.

K, onto more things consuming me.... Brett's Birthday. I am a sucky wife and I didn't post one single thing about him or his Birthday. I don't know what happens to him on his birthday, but he totally acts like a 12 year old girl. He doesn't want a big deal made of his Birthday, but then he pouts if nobody makes a big deal of his Birthday. Sweet little Shae made this cake for him though, and he loved it. Thank goodness for Shae, because Heaven knows, I couldn't do anything right on that day. (bless his heart, bless his heart, bless his heart!) We actually had a couple of nice dinners and he got money and an Ipod, which is what he asked for. So I think it turned out to be a nice day for him. He turned 28 on April 28th. Happy Birthday Bretty!

Onto more things... I am having a ModBe party on May 15th. So tell all of your friends. I am sending out invites, e-vites and I am shouting it out to the world on my blog, so if you are reading this, consider yourself invited, and your presence is mandatory! This is great stuff, by the way. They have the under shirts we all love, like layers, but they are SO much better than layers. They also have AWESOME swimwear. It is very modest, and cover-ey. Nothing hangs out, and everything is hidden well. It is a great cure for "back fat" and it hides "R.T." well. It is very slimming and they have CUTE styles to chose from. Kandice is selling this great stuff and she has a website. I also have some catalogs at my house. But the greatest part of all... She actually has the swim wear (and other stuff too) that you can try on. My house will become the hangout for all of the peeping toms in town, because we don't believe in curtains. NOT!!! That is just a dumb joke. A bad joke actually.... But here is a picture of the suit I ordered form the party Kandice had at her house last weekend. Remember how I told you that this stuff is slimming... well the lady that posed for this picture is actually a size 20/22. Amazing huh. Just kidding again, another bad joke.

So I have also been consumed with Soccer. Not just Quayd playing, but I volunteered to paint the stripes on the soccer field once a week. I am not very good at it and my lines aren't very straight, but I kind of enjoy it.

The thoughts of my boyfriend in his latest movie have REALLY been consuming me. I knew he really wanted me to see him this weekend, so I had to make time for him. He is SO DEMANDING that way. But that's OK. I still love him. (he he he) Made of Honor was super cute, by the way. I loved it. I was insistent on going Friday. I couldn't miss it, even if I had to go alone. Thank goodness Tara called, so I didn't have to go alone, but we also met up with Jamie, Brandi, and Annette.

Well, I guess I will call it an "entry." Megan told me the other day that my blog posts have been pretty wordy lately, so I better stop. I don't want to lose my fans!

the one about reality t.v.

Ohhhhhhh baby! I LOVE t.v. and especailly reality t.v. Since there has been this stupid writers strike, I have really depended on reality t.v. to give me my t.v. fix. I know what you are thinking.... LOSER!! But I just don't care, dangit. I love it and you can't judge me for that!!!

So I feel the need to tell you all about my very favorite Reality show in the whole wide world. It is kind of my guilty pleasure....

Big Brother! I seriously love this show so much. i am totally addicted and I look forward to it all of the time. I was so excited that they decided to have it in the winter this year so i didn't have to wait until summer to get wrapped up in it. Seriously, I am a little embarassed about it, but i don't care, i totally love it. Here is a photo of this season's cast. I even have Showtime so I can watch Big Brother After Dark. That is live feed from the ohouse every night from 10:00pm until 1:00am. No wonder I have trouble sleeping. This season, I am really cheering for James and Chelsia. I love them and would love to see them go far in the game. I also like Ryan, Josh and Adam. And Sheila a little bit. So there you go... my guilty pleasure show.

I have a few other favorites.... American Idol. I am really loving Brooke White and David Archuleta I am not a huge fan of the rocker chick, or the country girl. but I really like Jason Castro. He is a cutie and I really like his style. I could see myself buying David A., Brooke or Jason's CD, so I think they should win. And I should get to go to the final with 10 of my friends. I would take Brett, Quayd (one of the show's youngest fans), Kandice, Jamie, Janice, Stephanie (don't know if she is a fan, but I think she is fun to hang with), Uncle Kim, Holly, Emily A. and Elaine C. from school. Not becasue we are best friends or anything, but because she likes the show and I would like to see her have a good time. And she is cool! We could hang. And if I didn't mention your name and you are a big American Idol fan, I guess I would tell Jason, David and Brooke to let me invite you too. They won't mind. They are way cool like that!

I also love Biggest Loser. My favorite part of watching this show is the weekly competition I have with Brett to see who can eat more junk food before the weigh-in! This week, Girl Scout Cookies were our treat of choice!

Another guilty pleasure show that I love is the Bachelor. I know, I know, its so corny, but I can't help it. I get so wrapped up in it.

I also like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. It always makes me feel so good, like there are still a few good people out there in the world!

Anyway, this is another sad look into the life of me.

My name is Mandy, and I am addicted to reality T.V.

the one about Stephanie

Yesterday, I finally got to hang out with my new blog friend, Stephanie. She made a quick trip to town and I was excited all day to get to see her. We chat a lot about our blogs, we comment back and forth, and email occasionally, but it was so nice to get to meet her in person. She has a super fun blog, so you should check it out if you have a minute. She is a pro at digital scrapbooking, and she gave me a few tips on Adobe Photoshop, which will be very helpful. She also brought some of her awesome books she had made.... AMAZING! Anyway, this is how our afternoon played out....

I was excited and anxious all day for her to get here. She was stopping at Janice's first, then they were going to call me. Steph and Janice picked me up around 1:00, then we met up with Kristi and Nikki at Wingers. We had a YUMMY lunch, then went to Kristi's to hang out. That is where I learned a few tricks on Photoshop. I also ran across the street to my Mary Kay lady's house to pick up a few things. At 5:00, all five of us girls had appointments for pedicures. It was so nice!!! I love having a pedicure! After that, Nikki and Kristi had to go home, but Steph and Harli, Janice and I weren't done hanging, se we went and had some ice cream at Twillager's. We had our waitress take this picture....
It was so much fun to get to hang out with these fun girls. I sorta fell like I have known Stephanie for a long time. We just seem to hit it right off. It wasn't weird to talk to her or anything. I was a little nervous about that, but she is so cool. She is totally down to earth and just a sweetheart. Thanks for coming out here, Steph. And thanks Janice, Nikki and Kristi for letting me barge in on your fun sister time. I had so much fun!!! Come back soon Stephanie and Harli!

the one about a letter to Santa

Soooooooo, what do you think of my new layout? Cute, huh. I am very impressed. My friend, Stephanie did it for me. She is Janice's sister in-law. Her blog is super cute so I asked her how to do it. She sent me this big long email about how to change it, and is all I got out of it was:

BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlah click this BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlah select that BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah it's super easy BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah but if you want me to do it for you, I will. BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah

Well, the only thing I read was the part about, "I will do it for you." Bless you, Steph. I totally love it. You did a great job. I feel like I owe you something. I am a computer idiot, but anything else you need or want.... YOU GOT IT!
I have to tell you this super cute story... The other day, I went into a cute little store in town that my brother and his wife own. I wanted to get a few new things for my Christmas tree. I saw this super cute ornament that says, "Letters to Santa." You roll up your letter and stuff it inside. I just loved it and thought it would be cute on my red tree. I bought it and left it in the sack until I was ready to decorate. When I got ready to put it on my tree, I noticed there was a paper inside. I must have assumed that it was supposed to be there at first, but upon looking, I couls see it had handwriting on it. I pulled it out and realized it was a letter. It said:
Dear Santa,
I have been good.
Anika Joye Bolton

So then I assumed (and you know what happens when you assume!) it was part of the decoration, but I recognized the name signed on it. DUH! It is my friend Cara's daughter, and Cara works for Brandon and Danette in their store. Well I was so excited when I realized what I had in my posession and what power I now hold to make this sweet little girl's Christmas a little bit more magical. I have since written a little letter of my own.

Dear Anika,
I was shopping in Vernal last weekend and I visited a store called The Country Bear. I was trying to find some special gifts for all of the good Mommy’s and Daddy’s on my list. Well, I noticed an ornament on a Christmas tree that said, “Letters to Santa.” I thought I could see something inside, and I was right! It was a letter from YOU!!! I just wanted to let you know that I have been watching and I know that you have been a very good girl. I know you are doing very well at school at Discovery Elementary. I have also been watching your big brother, Riley and baby sister, Heber and I know they are great kids too. You are all right at the top of my good list. My elves are working on something really special just for you this Christmas. Please continue to be a good girl and take good care of your family. Do you want to know something else? I LOVE YOU!!!!!! Have a Merry Christmas and I hope you like what I bring for you.

Love,
Santa

I am mailing it today. If you know Cara, please don't tell her. I want it to be a secret for as long as I can, but it was just to good not to pass on to my blog friends.

I do need to cut this short because I am subbing today and I need to finish getting ready, then wake up prince charming and get him off to school. He is going to Taylors today to ride the bus to school with her. He is SO excited. He loves his Taylor.
