the one about my super fun girls weekend

My friend Cara was invited by some friends and I was invited by Cara to attend the first annual wine tasting girls weekend in Palisade, Colorado. Cara and I rode out together. We left Saturday morning and arrived in Palisade, met up with the other 6 girls and had lunch. We hired a limo to drive us around to different vineyards and winery's. It picked us up at the hotel at 1:00. Natalie, Nan, Jeanine, Cara, me, Jen, Amber and Kim

We were able to taste, shop and tour several winery's and a brewery. It was a 4 hour tour.... a 4 hour tour. (Get it? Gilligan's island, hahaha!)
Anyway, the tour was really cool and we had a great time! We stayed at the Wine Country Inn. It was SO nice! Cara and I shared a room and it was beautiful!
We had dinner at a cute little pizza shop then everyone wanted to swim. I was so tired, so I hung out in the room that night. I hate it! I wanted to play with the girls, but I also have to respect my body. When it says slow down... I gotta listen. Anyway, we slept like LOGS that night. I guess having a bed to ourselves with no interruptions is just what we both needed! We woke up Sunday morning and first thing, took care of the most important thing you have to do in Grand Jct./Palisade this time of year.... PEACHES!! We each bought a big box of fresh peaches. YUMMY!!! After that, we headed to the mall and got school clothes. I can't believe school starts NEXT WEEK! And I really can't believe my baby will be 8 in two weeks!!!! Summer has just flown by. It seems like school just barely got out for the summer, and here I am, getting Quayd ready for 3rd grade. Anyway this girls weekend was the perfect way to say goodbye to summer. Thanks girls for the invite, and I can't wait til next year!!

the one about our cool local radio station

Our local radio station, X94, does a big giveaway game on the air every summer called concentration. I have been determined to follow along this year. It is a lot like the classic children's game Memory. You have to keep track of prizes as they are revealed. You are in charge of your own game board. This is mine. Every hour or so, they tell you to call in and the 9th caller gets to play. They say 2 numbers and try to make a match. Easy enough, right? WRONG! I am horribly unlucky and have NEVER made it through to be the 9th caller. Or ANY caller for that matter! Last week, I heard one of the prizes revealed and I knew we HAD TO WIN IT! I had been listening carefully for the match, and when it was revealed I was ready to play!!! It was a new hot water heater. Ours is in bad shape. It gets worse and worse with every shower we take. It is electric and old and we can't even fill up the bath tub! Anyway, I knew, with my luck I would never get through. So I called the one person who has been incredibly lucky lately. I knew he wouldn't let me down! Good old Brett. (Remember the trip he won? The $300 he won on the penny slots in Wendover? Yah, he is lucky. Me??? Not so much.) I also recruited Cara to help me out. We were all at or jobs "working" and we had all been listening when they announced that it was time to call. We all dialed the best we could. I was calling form the work phone and my cell phone. So was Cara. Brett called a couple of times from his work phone. I never got through. Cara got through as #3. I hadn't heard from Brett and figured he was busy at work. I knew we were losers. A few minutes after you call, they play that call on the radio. I was pretty ticked because I figured someone would win it that didn't even need it or didn't really care about it. They started to play the call. I was sitting there all bummed, and I heard Brett's voice on the air!!! HE WON!!! Can you believe that? He hardly even tried. He is so dang lucky! Oh well, the last few times he has been lucky, I have benefited too, so YEAH! Anyway, Quayd and I ran to the radio station today to pick up the gift certificate. In the car we had the radio on. We were listening to Charlie and Brandon. I told Quayd that when we walked inside, those guys would be inside talking and we would probably be able to hear them. He thought that was so cool. We stepped in and quickly, Brandon walked out. He started talking to Quayd and then said, "Come with me!" We followed him and he gave Quayd one of the new AWESOME X94 t-shirts, then took us on a tour of the station. It was so cool. I was not prepared, so of course, no pictures. Dang. But it made Quayd's whole day. He loved it! As soon as we got home, he put on the t-shirt and has been wearing it ever since. Brett called and made arrangements to get our new hot water heater. It is gas so it will be SO much better than the old piece of crap we have now. THANK YOU X94!!!! Everybody should listen! It is the BEST radio station EVER!!!!

The top five shows of 1978 were All in the Family, Charlie's Angels, Three's Company, Happy Days, with the most popular being Laverne & Shirley

On the day of my birth, October 18, 1978, Grease was number one at the box office. And the number one song was "Kiss You All Over" by Exile.

the one about my first award

I am so excited! Michele nominated me for a blog award and it is my very first. I am so touched.

Speech, you ask?

Well, ok. If you insist. First, I would like to thank UBTA-UBET for my "most of the time-fast" Internet. Also, I would like to thank my friend Ramanda for even introducing me to the blog world. Many thanks go out to you, my blogger friends; including Michele for the award. Thanks for thinking of me Michele! And last but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of you.... the little people..... for reading my blog and continuing to come back for more. I am often amazed at the response I get from my blog and for all of the people who tell me they read it. My life is OH SO BORING, but since becoming a blogger about 10 months ago, I have changed my whole outlook on life. I view things on a level of "blog importance." I have found myself taking more pictures than I used to and I am proud to share with you the life my husband and I have made. Blogging has made me more aware of the blessings I have, and also more aware of the little things in life. I have fallen in love with documenting my life and journaling.

Thanks again to Michele and everyone who has touched me in this life we call "BLOGGING!"

(that turned out a wee-bit more in depth than I had intended. sorry. I wanted my acceptance speech to be on the funny side and it wasn't. again... so sorry. Michele, please don't revoke my nomination! you gave it to me for "always making you laugh" but I have clearly turned sappy!)
Here are the rules that accompanying this award.
1. Post the logo on your blog.
2. Add a link to the person who nominated you.
3. Nominate 7 other people for this award and add links to their blog.

so, I nominate . . .
Tara G. for always updating and going to pro-blogger really quick
Shae because she is the coolest girl EVER!
Aspen for always putting parenthood into perspective and "telling it like it is!"
Jennie for having such adorable daughters and leaving such fun comments
Ramanda for introducing me to the blogger world

the one about Cara's blog

I have this crazy friend named Cara. We have known each other forever! Seriously... FOREVER! Well, out of the blue the other day, she called me. She told me she was a fan of my blog and was thinking about starting her own. I told her how to get it up and going and I helped her make it cute. She told me that her family was really into John Deere stuff, so I went with it. Go check it out, it is a good blog!

Cara's Blog

But the main reason I am posting this, is to thank her! I have been feeling a little down lately, and it felt so good to be needed! And to know that I have a fan out there!!! She brought me a sweet thank you gift and it really meant the world to me. Thanks Cara! You rock!!!!!
