the one about my first award

I am so excited! Michele nominated me for a blog award and it is my very first. I am so touched.

Speech, you ask?

Well, ok. If you insist. First, I would like to thank UBTA-UBET for my "most of the time-fast" Internet. Also, I would like to thank my friend Ramanda for even introducing me to the blog world. Many thanks go out to you, my blogger friends; including Michele for the award. Thanks for thinking of me Michele! And last but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of you.... the little people..... for reading my blog and continuing to come back for more. I am often amazed at the response I get from my blog and for all of the people who tell me they read it. My life is OH SO BORING, but since becoming a blogger about 10 months ago, I have changed my whole outlook on life. I view things on a level of "blog importance." I have found myself taking more pictures than I used to and I am proud to share with you the life my husband and I have made. Blogging has made me more aware of the blessings I have, and also more aware of the little things in life. I have fallen in love with documenting my life and journaling.

Thanks again to Michele and everyone who has touched me in this life we call "BLOGGING!"

(that turned out a wee-bit more in depth than I had intended. sorry. I wanted my acceptance speech to be on the funny side and it wasn't. again... so sorry. Michele, please don't revoke my nomination! you gave it to me for "always making you laugh" but I have clearly turned sappy!)

the one about idiot parents (Not you, ma!)

I thought about posting this today anyway, but after reading my friend Ramanda's latest blog entry, I knew I had to do it. It's dumb and a little short, but this is proof that Quayd has a total jerk for a mother. I swear this was a total accident. I SWEAR!!!!!

Last night, Quayd was sound asleep in his bed. I had a huge, freezing cold, full to the top, glass of ice water and I totally spilled the WHOLE thing on my sleeping boy. He woke up scared, upset and wet. Isn't that just the saddest thing ever?!?!? What a horrible way to wake up! His bed was soaked, so he had to come sleep with mom and dad. (darnit) I usually hate having him sleep in my bed, but sometimes it is so nice to snuggle him all night. He is such a little cuddle bug.

Back to Ramamda though... She mentioned this quote from the Parent Trap, and I thought it was so funny and true!
"You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, or drive a car. Hell, you need a license to catch a fish! But they'll let any butt-reaming @#$hole be a father." Ramanda mentioned that if you had to have a license to be a parent, hers would have been revoked a long time ago. Well, mine too. I do the dumbest things and it is a wonder that Quayd really loves me and has never tried to run away. Ok, one time he tried to run away because he was in trouble and he said, "I am the worst kid ever!" He packed his bear blank, and a couple of toys and headed out the back door. He only made it to the mailbox, though, before he came back. And can I just say, Quayd is such a WONDERFUL kid and rarely gets in trouble. Not only because he is a little spoiled, but also because he never does anything wrong!!! Seriously. I always say that Heavenly Father must have known what idiots Brett and I were so he made sure to give us the best kid!!! And did he ever. Quayd is so great and I sure hope I don't screw him up. Tara always says of her kids, "We aren't saving for our kids' missions or college, but for their therapy!"
